Well, Blue Cricket Design is doing another Silhouette giveaway. Go check it out. But, as I said on facebook, don't feel obligated to enter...eventually I'd like to win one of these and every time you enter is smaller odds I'll win! ;) Check it out here.

Wow!

Okay, first off, I'm bad at the blogging thing lately. Life's gotten in the way and I would rather deal with life than blogging, so it fell by the wayside. But I wanted to share an awesome giveaway (or two!) so here I am. A couple of bloggers are giving away a Silhouette this week. If you don't know what that is, please go check out their sites because you'll fall in love. But I may or may not want you to leave a comment...I sort of like my odds so far and don't want to kill them, you know! ;) Anyway, go check out V and Co for the first giveaway (and the one where you can get 4 chances to enter!) and Homemade by Jill for the second (where you can see adorable baby onesies! Who doesn't love that?). The Silhouette is absolutely fantastic! (It's like the Cricut, but you don't have to buy cartridges, you just hook it up to your computer!) Hopefully someday I'll either win one of these or finally break down and buy it myself! :) Go check out the giveaways and enjoy!

*Edited to add: Turns out there are tons of other sites with this giveaway this week, so I'll be linking you there as well and linking this post back to my entries!
1. Tidy Mom
2. Sugar Doodle
3. Dollar Store Crafts
4. The Idea Room
5. A Soft Place to Land
6. Infarrantly Creative

Long time, no blog!

Wow! It's been a long time since I blogged! (And, btw, I hate my keyboard right now, cuz it won't paste anything, and I just wrote this, but blogger screwed up! Yuck!) Anyway, we're in the process of finishing the basement, including waterproofing inside and out due to some leaks, so we have lots of woodworking stuff going on. We also have no back deck. But we have plans now, so we're excited. And hopefully, this giveaway from High Heeled Foot in the Door will help me out! You've got a chance to win 5 gallons of Olympic Stain! Check it out!

Anyway, here are some pics of what I've been up to, craft-wise, lately. I'll have to come back to post a pic of the bench I built for my mother-in-law. It turned out pretty awesome!

This is what our old kitchen light looked like. It died on Monday night. A grand death, to give it credit, but still death. We thought that it wasn't working because of light bulbs (we've lived here a year and never changed its bulbs), so we replaced it. Still nothing. Flipped the breaker, turned on the light, got some light, but then sparks and nothing. Yeah, one of the sockets was dead, so we decided to retire the ugly, brass thing and use it as an excuse to get a pretty brushed nickel one. So, tada...here it is:
The pretty new light! Fortunately for me, I have an amazing dad who loves helping me out (he's also the one helping me with the basement...and yes, I mean me, not my husband) so he came out last night and helped install it. To be fair, I did get the old one down all by myself, singed wire nuts and all, but that darn thing did not want to work for me. Not to mention the at least 10 foot ceilings. I'm only 5'9"! So my dad's amazing and did it for me!

This one was all me, though! I was very proud of myself for my first dress that I completed 100% by myself! It was my daughter's Easter/birthday dress and she loves it! And I don't hate it at all...I definitely have things that I still need to improve on, but for a first try, and the only time I've ever sewn using patterned fabric (it's gingham if you zoom in), I didn't feel like it turned out badly at all.

This is our new growth chart. I stole someone's idea (don't know who...if you know, let me know!) and used a door from the Ikea As-Is section for this. Mine is actually held up with about 6 3M strips that I can pull off cleanly whenever I decide to paint and not have to worry about puttying holes! Yay for that! I don't have a handy-dandy vinyl cutter or access to someone with one, so I cheated in my own way. The number's are a font that I really liked on my computer (don't ask which one, I have no idea now) and I just printed it off. Then I cut them out, very, very carefully and mod-podged them on. I wouldn't recommend doing it on a light-colored door, since the ink will run a little, but for this door, it worked fine. The ruler marks were all done with a Sharpie! It was about an hour from start to finish and I'm really happy with how it turned out. It's got birth heights on it, and Bubs' most current heights. Someday I'll be able to get the boys to hold still. Maybe I'll just write their most recent doctor's appointment heights on them. But for now, I love it!

Holy Hannah!

Yes, I do use that phrase in real life. No, I'm not 90! :) I said it because I just realized how long it's been since I posted! I'm in a bit of a blogging funk, sorry! Anyway, I just thought I'd give a shout out to the High-Heeled Foot in the Door. You should definitely check out her blog right now. She's doing a giveaway for 3 (yes, 3!) gallons of Olympic paint! I'm so excited, since I have sooooo much that needs to be painted! Check her out!

Giveaway and quick catch up!

Well, still no crafts. There's simply not enough hours in the day lately! Partly because I've been trying really hard to be a bit more healthy and organized. I'll have to take some pictures of the organizing I've done to show you. I've got more shoe organizers in the mud room (we may or may not have too many shoes!), plus we've been putting everything in baskets and bins. My kids seriously have to run from me to make sure they don't get put in one! (I kid...sort of...they'd think it was fun!) Plus today will be my 5th day in a row exercising! Who knew I could do that? Honestly. I don't think I did. It's really exciting.

And now, if you're here about the giveaway, you should totally check out Today's Giveaway. They have tons of fantastic giveaways all the time and one that's going on today is for wall vinyl! There's some way cute stuff, so check it out!

Vintage Pearl Giveaway

Nope, I'm not cool enough to do a real giveaway yet. (And Jen, I promise I still remember your apron, I'm trying to find the perfect fabric for the other side and having issues! Aargh!) Anyway, head on over to Blue Cricket Design and check out the fantastic giveaway over there. A $50 gift card to The Vintage Pearl! I've seriously been wanting a necklace with my kids names on it, and especially one that I can add to. So I think if I win, I'm totally going for the Square Names on a Chain. It's so gorgeous! Head on over and check it out!

I'm baaaack!

Sort of. Is it okay that I'm coming back with bad feelings toward my creative side right now? I had a bit of a "craftastrophe" over the break. I tried making a quillow. Epic Fail! It's bad. I put it into the pillow pocket...sort of. It doesn't quite fit. But I have not allowed it out of there, even to show the Hubby the epic failure. That bad. Yup. Oh well. The kids have enjoyed their aprons and the crayon rolls I made them for Christmas. Bubs has her new table set up in her room with her dollhouse on it. I also made a rice hot/cold bag for Hubby for Christmas. He hasn't used it yet...he doesn't like to admit he might need it! Oh well. Over all, it was a fairly successful holiday. (I'm not going to say that Christmas was a success...that was a horrible day! Yikes!) Hopefully everyone enjoyed their holidays as well! Let me know if you think I should post a picture of my craftastrophe and/or give me ideas for what to do with it, cuz it's cute fabric, and it's being wasted at the moment!
